For the first time in Turkey, a metaverse platform to serve in the field of education was established by Yıldız Technical University (YTU). The first lesson of the platform, where students receive education in a virtual environment, was given by the Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. It was given by Tamer Yılmaz through digital avatars.
In the Metaverse environment, where the first course on ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ is given, students will be given the first lesson by the Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. He bought it from Tamer Yılmaz. The lecture, held with digital avatars chosen by the rector and students, was broadcast live on YouTube.
Metaverse technology, which means 3D virtual universes and in which millions of dollars have been invested, started to be used in the field of education for the first time in Turkey. The metaverse platform named ‘YTU Starverse’, developed by academics and students, was designed entirely using the servers and infrastructure within the university.
The project was carried out by Assoc. Prof., who is the director of the YTU Reality Lab laboratory established within the university. It was carried out by the research team under the coordination of Ertan Toy and with the support of the scientific research projects coordination unit. At YTU Starverse, where it is aimed to increase the quality of education through new technologies; In addition to classrooms where students can take classes, there are buildings such as a museum, art gallery and library where cultural activities will be held.
